I Avgi

I Avgi (Greek Η Αυγή " The Dawn ") is a Greek daily published in Athens. It represents positions of the political left and is considered a " morning paper of the left".

I Avgi was founded in 1952. Originally it was an organ of the Union of Democratic Left EDA. In the 1960s, it reached runs of over 60,000 copies. During the Greek military dictatorship (1967-1974) her show was prohibited. In 1975 it was published as an organ of the Euro -communist " KKE - domestic ", later the Greek Left ( E.AP. ). Today, it is, although formally independent, as the voice of left-wing parties, SYRIZA and Synaspismos.
