I Can not Get Started ( with You ) is a popular song was composed in 1936 by Vernon Duke with lyrics by Ira Gershwin.

The song was originally used in the Broadway musical Ziegfeld Follies of 1936. In the musical Bob Hope sang the song. Later he became a popular jazz standard. Bunny Berigans recorded in 1936 and 1937 and two versions of the title has become his biggest hit. Berigan was honored for his version in 1975 with a posthumous Grammy.

Billie Holiday recorded the song with Lester Young in 1938. 1942 Young played another version with his trio a; Young except the trio of pianist Nat King Cole and bassist Red Callender has passed. Elvis Costello sang it in one of the last episodes of Marian McPartlands show Piano Jazz.

The song was played in the films Save the Tiger ( 1973) and Chinatown (1974).
