I Miss You is a song by American singer-songwriter Miley Cyrus. It was released on 26 June 2007 as a promo - recordings of their debut album, Meet Miley Cyrus. The title in 2007 reached notoriety because it is addressed to the grandfather of the singer, who died in 2006.
Production and Recording
The song was written by Miley Cyrus, Wendy Foy Green and Brian Green, with the latter also served as producer. The song is credited to Cyrus and her birth name Destiny Hope Cyrus.
Background
The singer had a very close relationship with her grandfather, Ronald Ray "Ron" Cyrus. A few years before his death, ill this to mesothelioma, a rare cancer disease. Later the musician interrupted the writing of the song, as their was difficult this. After some time, Cyrus began work on the song again. However, she could never sing the song for her grandfather, even though her father Billy Ray Cyrus said that he is " a small part " shortly before his death played for him. On 28 February 2006, the man eventually died at the age of 70 years.
Promotion / Charts
The Best of Both Worlds Tour ( Fall / Winter 2007/ 08), she sang the song regularly at the additions in the unplugged version, too, thereby entered into various TV shows ( The Oprah Winfrey Show ) on. At the U.S. Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles of the song debuted at number 9 and the Pop 100 at number 27
Trivia
- First excerpts of the songs were in an episode ( / She's A Super Sneak A secret mission ) to hear the first season of Hannah Montana. There, however, under her Miley Stewart Rolling situation that she misses her deceased mother.
- In a background scene with Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert is seen as her father Billy Ray Cyrus Cyrus teaches the song. In between, one always sees the tour appearance.
