I Musici de Montréal Chamber Orchestra

I Musici de Montréal is a professional chamber orchestra from the Canadian city of Montreal. The repertoire includes Baroque to contemporary classical music.

The orchestra was founded in 1983 by Yuli Turovsky, who was conductor until the 2010/11 season. The first concert took place on 8 November 1984. The ensemble consists of 15 musicians, who are recruited from graduates of McGill University, the Université de Montréal and the Montreal Conservatory.

The orchestra has released over 40 recordings. Several of them have won awards such as the Diapason d'Or in 1988 for the 14th Symphony by Shostakovich. So far, the orchestra has performed in over 50 countries; the best known appearance locations include Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall in New York, the Gewandhaus in Leipzig and the Tonhalle in Zurich.
