I, Robot

I, the Robot ( Original title: "I, Robot ") is a by Isaac Asimov 1950 published novel, which combines nine content -related short stories by a frame story together. All the stories published 1940-1950 in various science fiction magazines. The German edition came in 1952 under the title I, Robot in the smoke Verlag out.

The book is considered a classic of science fiction literature. In the story Runaround, the three Laws of Robotics are postulated by Asimov for the first time.

Content

The frame story consists of an interview of the narrator with the main character Dr. Susan Calvin, a robot psychologist who works with the leading manufacturers of robots, U.S. Robots. Looking back on her life, Calvin describes the evolution of the robot that is told chronologically in nine short stories. The author here describes the problems, fears, and the philosophical and moral issues that arise from the existence of robots that differ less and less of people and these are even superior in many respects. At the same time it also shows the strengths and weaknesses of the people compared to robots.
