I. A. L. Diamond

IAL Diamond ( * June 27, 1920 in Ungheni, Romania (now Moldova as Itek Domnici ), † 21 April 1988, in Beverly Hills, California ) was an American screenwriter and producer, primarily through its decades of collaboration with Billy Wilder is known.

Life

The initials " I. AL " in his stage name he gave out as the abbreviation for Interscholastic Algebra League, a group of which he was a member during his school days. When he was nine years old, his family emigrated from what is now Moldova in the United States. Since 1944 he had worked as a screenwriter with quite successful films like Honey, I 'm younger. In 1957 he started with Billy Wilder writing screenplays, which always directing and producing took over, while Diamond was his co- producer. Diamond helped the Austrian-born Wilder especially in the language. The popularity of Wilder he never reached, even though he has received numerous awards along with it. Up to Wilder's last film in 1981, they work together in twelve movies, classics like Some Like It Hot, The Apartment and Avanti, Avanti.

With the last film by Wilder and Diamond ended his career and died in 1988. He was married from 1945 until his death with Barbara Ann Bentley, they had two children.
