Iacobeni, Sibiu

Movile (formerly Hundrubechiu, German hundred Bücheln, Hungarian Százhalom ) is a village in the district of Sibiu ( Romania). It belongs to the municipality Iacobeni ( Jakobsdorf ).

History

Hundreds Bücheln was first documented in 1355. Presumably, however, he was already founded in the late 12th century.

The place name is due possibly to the numerous Rutschungshügel on the eastern edge of town ( " Büchel " = hill ).

Hundreds Bücheln belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and was on crown land. Thus were the inhabitants - originally mainly Transylvanian Saxons - free farmers.

In the first census in Transylvania in 1488 54 households were registered. By the end of the Second World War, the Saxons were in the majority of the village population. 1941 lived in the village of 807 inhabitants, of whom 466 German. As part of the emigration of German residents during the communist era, but especially after the revolution of 1989, the population fell significantly.
