Iain Douglas-Hamilton

Iain Douglas - Hamilton ( born August 16, 1942) is a British environmentalist and documentary filmmaker, who became internationally known mainly for his work and reports on elephant.

Career

At Oriel College, Oxford acquired Douglas-Hamilton both a Bachelor of Science in biology and a Dr. phil. in zoology. In 2010 he received the Prize of Indianapolis Indianapolis Zoological Society for his work for the protection of elephants.

In 1993, he founded the organization Save the Elephants. Douglas-Hamilton is one of the keynote speaker at the annual Wildlife Conservation Network expo. His reports also about the persecution of elephants and their hunting for their ivory, contributed significantly to the fact that the Washington Convention in 1989 banned the trade of ivory.
