Ian Falconer

Ian Falconer (* 1959, Connecticut, USA) is an American picture book illustrator, stage designer and designer.

Ian Falconer studied in New York before he finished his art studies in Los Angeles. Here he began to design costumes and sets as a designer for the Los Angeles Opera. In Boston and New York, he made more sets and costumes for the ballet ensembles. For the New Yorker magazine, he recorded several tracks images.

Ian Falconer is also known for his picture books about the Pig Olivia. First, the story was only meant as a little birthday present for his niece. But then came the book edition, which was the same as the picture book prize of the American Library Association. Internationally, Olivia was a success. Falconer then illustrated further adventures. With the little pig highly idiosyncratic and saucy Falconer created a role model for younger viewers.
