Ian Leslie, 21st Earl of Rothes

Ian Lionel Malcolm Leslie, 21st Earl of Rothes ( born May 10, 1932 † 15 April 2005 in Salisbury ) was a Scottish peer and thus of 17 May 1975 to 11 November 1999, member of the House of Lords. At least during the 1997-98 session he was on leave.

He was the eldest son of Malcolm Leslie, 20th Earl of Rothes, and his wife, Beryl Dugdale, and moved at the age of 7 years to come up with his parents in the South of England. He went to Eton College and was in 1953 a sub- lieutenant in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve and served on HMS Vanguard. In 1955 he married Marigold Evans Bevan of Wales, a daughter of David Evans - Bevan. The couple had two sons, James ( b. 1958 ) and Alexander (* 1962).

His maternal grandmother, Noël Leslie, Countess of Rothes, had survived the 1912 sinking of the RMS Titanic.

Lord Rothes died after a long illness at the age 72 on 15 April 2005, his eldest son, James Malcolm David inherited the title of count.
