Ian Murray (bishop)

Ian Murray (* December 15 1932 in Lennoxtown ) is retired Bishop of Argyll and the Isles.

Life

Ian Murray received on 17 March 1956, and was ordained priest incardinated in the clergy of the Archdiocese of Saint Andrews and Edinburgh. John Paul II appointed him on 3 November 1999 as Bishop of Argyll and the Isles.

The Archbishop of Saint Andrews and Edinburgh, Keith Michael Patrick O'Brien, ordained him on 7 December of the same year to the bishop; Co-consecrators were Thomas Joseph Cardinal Winning, Archbishop of Glasgow, and Pablo Puente Buces, Apostolic Nuncio to the United Kingdom.

On 16 October 2008, Pope Benedict XVI. its age-related resignation.
