Ian Poulter

Ian Poulter ( born January 10, 1976 in Hitchin, England ) is an English professional golfer on the European Tour and the North American PGA TOUR.

He was professional golfer in 1994, but could not until after his first victory on the Challenge Tour in 1999 and the Tour qualifying school for the European Tour. In his first season Poulter won the Italian Open and won the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year Award 2000. Victories followed over the next few seasons, including the prestigious Volvo Masters in 2004. In September 2006 he won the Open de Madrid. In the European Tour Order of Merit Poulter was 2003, 2004 and 2006, land in the top 10.

After he had qualifying for the Ryder Cup 2001 still just missed, he was a 2004 member of the victorious European team. This Poulter was eligible to play for the PGA TOUR and since 2005, he divides his starts between the two major tournament series on.

His biggest success Poulter in February 2010 with the victory at the WGC - Accenture Match Play Championship in Arizona. In the final, he defeated his compatriot Paul Casey 4 and 2 with he received 1.02 million euros, the highest ever prize money in his career and improved temporarily at No. 5 in the world rankings.
