Ian Simmonds, Juryman (* 1966 in Wales), DJ, music producer and electronica jazz musician. His music oscillates between more acoustic work of the nu jazz, downtempo and intricately -produced electronica and Intelligent Dance Music. Under his pseudonym Juryman the sound of his pieces is interwoven with hip-hop textures. Ian Simmonds music overcomes often "successful that gap, which the DJ culture of the organic- living" separates more essential classical music. His works have lyrical or socio-political issues. Ian Simmonds is trumpeter, bass guitar and piano player, singer and music producer with numerous publications, contributions and co-productions.

Biography

Background

Ian Simmonds followed in his childhood the commitment of his trumpet -playing father around the world. At 18, he went to London and formed a collective called Sandals with three other friends. End of the 80s they started the club " Violets " in London - Soho, in response to the emerging Acid House scene and early rave culture; various happenings followed. With the beginning of the 1990s the Sandals published at London Records. Ian Simmonds published his deeply vibrant music first under his pseudonym Juryman (1995 ), and later under his real name Ian Simmonds.

Music

Mid-1990 Ian Simmonds began to publish a series of 12 "albums. Additionally he produced for Left Field and Pressure Drop what his later publications influenced, last but not least he met while Luke Gordon aka spacer. Appeared in 1997 at SSR a LP Juryman vs. Spacer: . Mailorder Justice his published in 1999 in K7 solo debut album Ian Simmonds Last States of Nature has been very well discussed and consolidated his reputation as an innovative producer, followed by 2000, the LP Juryman. the Hill (SSR Records ), 2001 Ian Simmonds: Return to X (K7 ) with Escape to Where was published in 2002 another Juryman LP.

In addition to collaborating with different musicians, many remixes, appearances in several compilations Ian Simmonds also has the music for the documentary film by Adam Smith AIPS (American Infantry Preservation Society ) composed.

2005 drew the artist moved to Germany to work with local musicians at his Jazz Project " Wise in Time"; since Ian Simmonds published for " Musik Krause ", a sub- publisher of "Joy of Dancing ," where already five 12 "was published, as well as his most recent LP Ian Simmonds: Burgenland Dubs.
