Ian Syster

Ian Syster ( born January 20, 1976, † 25 December 2004 Upington ) was a South African long-distance runner.

As a South African marathon champion, he went on to the World Athletics Championships in 2001 in Edmonton, where he finished in 14th place in the marathon.

In 2002 he presented the London Marathon with his personal best 2:07:06 to. In a marathon, the World Athletics Championships in Paris in 2003, he finished in seventh place, the same year he won the Beijing Marathon.

Ian Syster came on Christmas morning in 2004 along with his two- month-old son in a car accident when he was on his way to his family.
