Iao Valley

The Iao Valley (English and Iao Valley) on the island of Maui (Hawaii ) can be reached in a westerly direction, about five miles from Wailuku. The valley is surrounded by the steep slopes of the West Maui montains. In 1790 this is where King Kamehameha I, the decisive battle to Maui and defeated King Kahekili.

At the end of the street stands, overgrown by lush jungle, the volcanic monolith Iao Needle almost 370 m high above the valley.

Short trails lead along the creek and some viewpoints.
