The Ibaraki Airport (Japanese茨城 空港, Ibaraki - Kuko ) is a civil-military airport near the city of Omitama, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan.

History

Originally, the airport was used as airfield Hyakuri (百里 飞行 场, Hyakuri - hikōjō ) used by the Air Self-Defense Forces.

Due to the heavy workload of both Tokyo Narita and Haneda airports this was renamed on 11 March 2010 in Ibaraki airport and taken to the civilian air traffic. In addition, it continues to be used around the clock by the armed forces. To cope with the additional traffic, a second airstrip was built.

Are served by Ibaraki from the Kobe airport in Germany by Skymark and the Incheon Airport in Seoul, South Korea by Asiana Airlines. The Chinese airline Spring Airlines decided early June 2010, as a test to offer flights to Shanghai. Skymark plans to adjust the flight to Kobe in September 2010.

Transport links

The two nearby JR stations Ishioka and Shin- Hokota be supplied with a regular bus service since the opening of the civil airport Ibaraki. The airport is the end point of the short prefectural road 359 via the prefectural road 360 is connected to the prefectural road 50 to the prefectural capital Mito.
