Icarian Sea

Ikarisches Sea (Greek Ikario pelagos Ικάριο πέλαγος ) is a name for a marine area in the eastern Aegean. Geographically, it is not precisely defined, but includes roughly the area south of Chios to the north of Kos with the islands of Ikaria, Samos and Patmos. The sea was named after Icarus, who should be there fallen into the sea, according to legend.
