ICIUM

ICIUM Wonderworld of Ice ( " wonder world of ice ") is a winter amusement park, created out of ice and snow in Levi, Finland. The first park was opened on December 18, 2010. In the park both ice sculptures and snow sculptures are exhibited in an area of about one hectare.

Construction

ICIUM is built by Chinese ice sculptors who come from the city of Harbin, where takes place every year since 1963 Harbin International EinsFestival.

More than 10,000 cubic meters of snow were used in the construction of the first ICIUM in 2010. The builders were doing also cut about 600 cubic meters of ice from the Ounasjoki River, from which the sculptures were carved.

Buildings ICIUMS

The main attractions ICIUMS in the 2010-2011 season were:

  • The Great Wall as a snow slide. The largest snow buildings, the Great Wall was 15 meters high and 80 meters long. More than 5,000 cubic meters of snow were used for the construction.
  • The Helsinki Cathedral. With a height of 15 meters, the Helsinki Cathedral counted along with the Great Wall slide of the most impressive buildings of snow ICIUM.
  • Helsinki Central Station.
  • The pagoda. The green pagoda was one with a height of 15 meters as the highest ice sculptures.
  • Heavenly Temple.
  • Beijing National Stadium.
  • The Terracotta Army. Ice sculptures of the famous terracotta soldiers.

Chinese folk artists

Folk artists from Beijing were present also in ICIUM and performed as traditional folk art is made, such as Straw plaiting, the artful painting snuff bottles and Teigskulpturen.

The ICIUM mascot

Mingming, a baby panda from the Bamboo fairy world is the mascot of ICIUM. During his first adventure, it tries to be home from an evil dragon to save while preserving the support of Grandfather reindeer Niila, the Rentierkitz Nina and Santa Claus himself.
