ICMA

The International Capital Markets Association (ICMA ) is an international industry association for capital market participants based in Zurich. Focus of membership is European banks and financial service providers.

History

The ICMA was created in July 2005 by the merger of the International Primary Market Association and the International Securities Market Association ( ISMA ). The ISMA itself was the former Association of International Bond Dealers ( AIBD ), which was founded in 1969.

Interest calculation method

ICMA was known primarily for the entwicklelte of their interest method. This AIBD method ( referred to as ISMA method or ( rarely ) ICMA method due to the renaming ) is today in many mathematical applications standard.

Self-

An essential task of ICMA is the self-regulation of capital market business. The ICMA developed rules, standards and codes of practice to commercial transactions. These standards are the basis of the global stock market transactions and support the banking supervision.
