Icod de los Vinos

Icod de los Vinos is a municipality in the north-north -west of the Canary Island of Tenerife, with 23,092 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013).

Icod de los Vinos is connected to Santa Cruz de Tenerife on the from Los Realejos developed than northern motorway TF- 5. Icod de los Vinos is located west-southwest of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, just north of Arona Reina Sofia and the airport. Neighboring communities are La Guancha to the east, La Orotava in the southeast, Santiago del Teide to the south and Garachico to the west.

In Icod de los Vinos is the " Drago Milenario ", the most famous dragon tree, at least in the Canaries. Until recently it was assumed he was about 3000 years old, according to recent findings, its age is estimated to be about 400 years. This Dragon Tree is found even in the arms of the city again.

Above the park with the dragon tree stands the Iglesia de San Marcos, in the 15-16. Century was built. The multiple enlarged church has a remarkable renaissance portal. The church ceiling was installed from the heartwood of the Canary pine in the 15th century. The Baroque altar is decorated with silver ornaments. The filigree silver cross comes from Cuba.

In the district of Santa Bárbara, the interesting Doll Museum ARTlandya is character doll 42 different internationally renowned doll artist. In addition, there is a Teddy Teddy exhibition of different designers. The museum is located in old renovated Canarian stone houses, on a finca with a tropical garden.

The Cueva del Viento is the longest lava cave in Africa and the largest volcanic tube of the European Union.
