Icon for Hire
Icon for Hire is an American rock band from Decatur, Illinois. The band was founded by singer and guitarist Shawn Jump Ariel 2007. Her debut album Scripted, which was released by Tooth & Nail Records on August 23, 2011 Label broke the record for the most sales within the first week for a debut album and took five Billboard chart positions.
History
The beginnings
The band had their first gig at a local club after they had played previously in front of family and friends. The next two years the band toured through the Midwest and released two Extended Plays Icon for Hire EP (2008) and The Grey EP ( 2009). 2009 Davis left the band.
Tooth & Nail and scripted (2009-2011)
At the end of 2009 the band through MySpace by Tooth & Nail Records was contacted. The label sent representatives to a concert of the band and eventually took them under contract in July 2010. The last quarter of 2010 they spent with producers Rob Hawkins and Aaron Sprinkle in the production of the first album Scripted, which was released on August 23, 2011. In February 2011, the current bassist Josh Kincheloe joined the band.
Tours
Icon for Hire played in the interlude of Red on the "Kill the Machine " tour in October 2011. They took part in the Christmas Rock Night in Ennepetal, among other things, on the Red, Skillet, Hawk Nelson and Stellar Kart played. In early 2012, the band toured with Jamie's Elsewhere, These Hearts, and with Emery 's " Emery and Friends Tour" with I Am Empire and Sent By Ravens in March 2012. In May 2012, she also toured with Red, POD and Love and Death. In the summer of the same year they played at numerous festivals, including the Creation Festival. In addition, they gave in July announced that it will participate along with Family Force 5 and Disciple, which is also available at Tooth & Nail Records, in September and November at the Music With A Mission Tour.
Musical style and influences
Icon for Hire is known for a punk / hard rock sound, have been incorporated into the pop and nu-metal influences. In an interview at the Christmas Rock Night 2011 they told about their biggest influences. According to information are their biggest influences Linkin Park, Pantera, and As Cities Burn.
