Iconclass

Iconclass is a classification approach for the acquisition and content indexing of image content and is designed for scientific work in the fields of art history and iconography. The concept was created under the direction of Henri van de Waal and the Rijksbureau voor Kunsthistorisches Documentatie ( RKD ) in The Hague. Today, it is mainly the RKD, used the MNEMOSYNE project in Amsterdam, Bildarchiv Foto Marburg, the Herzog August Library in Wolfenbüttel and smaller projects. Also in the museum documentation is Iconclass use. Eight different collections to be searched for Iconclass notations on the official website of the Iconclass project.
