Ido Abram

Ido ( Isidor Bert Hans) Abram ( born 1940 in Jakarta, Indonesia) is a Dutch educationalist.

Life

Ido Abram was in Indonesia (formerly Batavia, Dutch East Indies ) was born. With his family, he was interned as a child in the Japanese camps. After the liberation, the family returned to the Netherlands. He studied mathematics and philosophy at the University of Amsterdam. He was a math teacher, educationist and education consultant. From 1990 to 1997 he held the first European chair of " Holocaust Education " at the Universiteit van Amsterdam. Since 1996 he has been director of the Stichting Leren. He also served as creative director of the Jewish Historical Museum in Amsterdam.

Abram is the author, co-author and editor of numerous publications and essays on Jewish culture and identity, for pedagogical discussion of the history of Nazi crimes ( " Education after Auschwitz ," and " Holocaust Education " ) and intercultural education.
