Ieuan Evans

Ieuan Cennydd Evans ( born March 21, 1964 in Pontarddulais ) is a former Welsh rugby union player who played at the position of the outer three- quarter.

Evans began his athletic career while still at school in Carmarthen. At age 19 he joined the Llanelli Rugby Club. At this time he studied at the University of Salford. Evans team succeeded in gaining in seven cup finals, of which five were won. In 1997 he moved to Bath, in his final season as a player, he won the Heineken Cup with this team.

The first international match Evans graduated in 1987 against France in Paris. This was followed by 71 more matches in which he once ran aground as captain 28 and scored 33 attempts. He thus broke the valid to date Welsh record. In 1994, he led Wales to victory Five Nations. His last game played Evans in 1998 against Italy.

He participated in three tours, in 1989 in Australia, in New Zealand in 1993 and 1997 in South Africa, the British and Irish Lions in part. In 1993 he succeeded in doing against the All Blacks four attempts.

1996 Evans was awarded for its outstanding performance the Order Member of the British Empire. In 1999, he ended his career and founded a marketing company. In 2007, he was inducted into the International Rugby Hall of Fame.
