IF-boat

The design of IF - boat dates from the year 1966 by Tord Sundén who had already been in 1942 with the process of drawing the Nordic Folkeboot. It was originally called " International Folkeboot ", this name but could not keep it because it was not registered as an international, but only as Swedish and later Danish national class.

The IF - boat based on the plan of the Nordic Folkestone boat. Compared to this, there was a higher freeboard, mirrors and Steven have been slightly modified. The bodies have been extended until the mast to get more space below deck. Because a fiberglass hull is lighter than the wooden hull of the Nordic Folke Boots, the keel weight and so the sail area could be enlarged. The sail area is 3.95. In order to improve maritime safety, the boat was equipped with a self-bailing cockpit. Eight Erlich the cockpit is located on the IF - boat a locker. There is in many ships and the motor shaft for the outboard motor. The rig consists of a flexible metal mast, which allows a variable trim. The boat has also genoa and spinnaker.

It is estimated that up to October 1987 about 3,600 boats have been produced, of which 100 were built under license in Australia.
