IF Boltic

IF boltic was a sport - and Bandyverein from the Swedish town of Karlstad, Värmland.

The club was founded in 1946. In the early days the club had next to Bandy also departments for foot and hand ball.

The name is due to the interest of some club members for English football. Beginning and end of the favorite teams Bolton and Celtic then formed the name boltic.

IF boltic played his first season in the top Swedish Bandyliga ( Bandyallsvenskan ) 1976/1977.

In the 80 years the association was the dominant team in the Bandyallsvenskan. Thus, the men's team won in the period 1979-1988 a total of eight times the Swedish Championship in bandy. The women's team was six times Swedish champion will be in the 80s. Internationally, some could be considered a success.

In the 90s the club was not as successful, but you've won the Swedish Championship (men ) and twice the World Cup (men).

The team of IF boltic wore its home games in Tingvalla Isstadion.

In 2000, IF boltic ended with the IF Karlstad - Göta to a new club together the BS BolticGöta, which currently ( 2006/ 07) in the Bandyallsvenskan plays.
