IFSC Climbing World Championships

The World Championship in climbing is the world climbing competition has been held since 1991 and every two years at different locations. Organizer since 2005, the IFSC, in front of the UIAA was responsible for the alignment. Open to the respective reigning World and Continental Champions ( European Champion, etc.) as well as five participants per nation by the National associations (eg German Alpine Club, Swiss Alpine Club ) are nominated.

The 2011 World Championships was held from 15 to 24 July 2011 in Arco, the venue of rock Masters instead. For the first time a Paraclimbing World Cup for people with disabilities was carried out ( 16 to 19 July 2011). The competitions in bouldering won the Austrian Anna Stöhr and Russian Dmitry Sharafutdinov. For Germany there was the first World Championship medal in 14 years: Juliane Wurm from Wuppertal won bronze in bouldering. In the Spaniard Ramón Julián Lead won Puigblanque and, for the third time, the Austrian Angela Eiter. Titles in speed climbing brought Mary Krasavina (Russia) and Qixin Zhong (China).

2012 took the world championship outside of the biennial instead, from the 12th to the 16th September at the Palais Omnisports de Paris -Bercy in Paris. 2014, the World Cup is divided into two venues where the competitions lead climbing, speed and Paraclimbing find in Gijón ( Spain) instead, the Boulder competition in Munich.
