Igigi

The Igigu are a part of the Sumerian and Akkadian mythology. The Igigu is a small group of Semitic deities were initially subordinate to the Anunna deities in the Sumerian pantheon. In Atrahasis myth tells how the Igigu until their rebellion drudgery were doing that imposed them the Anunna sky deities. The rebellion of the Igigu after long negotiations ended with the creation of man, which from then on took over the work of the Igigu:

In the Epic of Gilgamesh was a conflict between the gods and the Igigu Anunna, especially Enlil indicated. A significant Igigu was Ishtar, the pre-eminence over other deities enjoyed especially in Babylonia. In the Assyrian religion, both the Igigu and the Anunna come back voluntarily behind Marduk, after the latter had as described in Enûma Elish ordered the world anew.
