Igman

The Igman (1502 m) is a mountain in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is located in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the territory of the municipalities Hadžići and Ilidža, near Sarajevo. At its foot springs from the river Bosna.

On the Mount Igman 1984 parts of the winter games in Sarajevo took place. Thus were there the jumps for ski jumping and the Olympic winter sports center.

During the siege of Sarajevo during the Bosnian War of the mountain was hotly contested. At times, led the only road to Sarajevo over Mount Igman. In 1992, Serbian forces were on the verge of completely taking the mountain, but were deterred by U.S. threats of it. In 1995 parts of a Rapid Response Association of 12,500 British, French and Dutch soldiers were stationed here.
