Ignazio Cannavò

Ignazio Cannavò ( born December 12, 1921 in Fiumefreddo di Sicilia, Catania, Italy Province) is a retired Archbishop of Messina - Lipari - Santa Lucia del Mela.

Biography

Ignazio Cannavò was born on 12 December 1921 in Fiumefreddo di Sicilia in Sicily. On 5 November 1944, he was ordained a priest. In 1948 he received his doctorate in philosophy and theology in 1953. From 1948 to 1968 he taught philosophy at the Episcopal Seminary of Acireale.

On 31 October 1970 he was called by Pope Paul VI. appointed Titular Bishop of the Diocese of Octava and Acireale. The bishop He was ordained on 13 December of the same year.
