Igor Vladimirovich Akinfejew (Russian Игорь Владимирович Акинфеев, scientific transliteration: Igor Akinfeev Vladimirovič; UEFA notation: Igor Akinfeev, born April 8, 1986 in Vidnoye, Russian SSR, Soviet Union, now Russia ) is a Russian football player.

Career

Association

Akinfejew 's goalie and plays in the Russian Premier League for CSKA Moscow since the beginning of his professional career. At Central Sports Club of the Army, he was taken in 2003 as a 17 -year-old for regular keeper. In the same year he was with CSKA Russian master. In the season 2004/ 05 he achieved his biggest success of his career, the victory in the UEFA Cup with CSKA. To date, three more times with CSKA Russian master.

In the European Cup competitions, he came so far (as of September 2013) to 74 inserts for CSKA, one of them in the UEFA Super Cup final, 33 in the UEFA Champions League, and 40 in the UEFA Cup.

National

Since 2004 Akinfejew is regular in the squad of the Russian national team. He made his debut on 28 April 2004 against Norway. At 18 years and 20 days he became the youngest national team in the history of his native country. Shortly thereafter, the goalkeeper took part in the 2004 European Championships in Portugal, where he however did not play behind Sergei Ovchinnikov and Vyacheslav Malafejew.

In qualifying for the 2006 World Cup in Germany Akinfejew guarded in seven out of twelve games the Russian box. However, he missed his team to participate in the final round. Behind Portugal and Slovakia, the Russians were only third of their group. In May 2007, Akinfejew injured his knee. As a result, his place between the posts by Vyacheslav Malafejew and later by Vladimir Gabulow it was disputed.

But while the European Football Championship 2008, he was careful again in all five tournament games his team the Russian team the gate and reached the semifinals. At the European Championships in 2012 Akinfejew was due to lack of match practice and strong performance of its competitors only goalkeeper behind Malafejew and was not used.
