Igor Ivanovich Belanow (also Ihor Iwanowytsch Bjelanow; Russian Игорь Иванович Беланов; born September 25, 1960 in Odessa, Soviet Union ) is a retired Soviet football player.

Career

In the highest Soviet league Belanow played for Chernomorets Odessa for which it ran aground mid-1990s, again in the now highest Ukrainian Premier League and Dynamo Kyiv. With the latter he won in the 1985/1986 season the European Cup Winners' Cup with a 3-0 final victory against Club Atlético de Madrid in Lyon.

With the Football World Cup 1986 in Mexico winger played with the Soviet national team under coach Valery Lobanovsky a strong tournament, giving him the award in Europe earned Player of the year 1986 together with his performances at the European Cup victory of Dynamo Kiev. Belanow had met in the group stage, which ended the Soviet Union as group winners ahead of European champions France, and once in the 3-4 defeat to Belgium, he had scored all three goals. Overall Belanow was in Sbornaja 33 times active ( 8 goals). In qualifying for the European Championship in 1988 Belanow had scored four goals for his team. During the tournament he does not met. Bitter Rochester moment and at the same time the greatest success at selection level was the final of the 1988 European Championships in Munich's Olympic Stadium, the 0-2 lost the Soviet team against the Dutch team to Gullit, Van Basten and Rijkaard. Belanow failed in this match with a penalty kick in the Dutch keeper Hans van Breukelen.

In October 1989 Belanow joined as the first Soviet national team in the Bundesliga. With Borussia Mönchengladbach played the native Ukrainians, who had already passed its zenith power, until December 1990 and scored only four goals in 24 games. During the winter break of the season 1990/91 he moved to Eintracht Braunschweig in the Second Bundesliga. In 38 second division games Belanow met 13 times for Lower Saxony, of which he was in the summer of 1994, after a season in the then third-tier Oberliga Nord with 26 missions and eight hits, separated.

He took over in 2003, the majority of shares in Swiss football club FC Wil. Under him Wil first won the Swiss Cup and therefore took the following season 's UEFA Cup qualification part. Due to various differences Belanow has left the FC Wil again and the AG went to the probate process.
