Igor Morozov (singer)
Igor Morozov ( * 1948 in Dnipropetrovsk in Ukraine) is a Russian- Ukrainian baritone.
Life
Igor Morozov has already appeared as a child in numerous concerts with orchestra, which were transferred partly on the radio. After finishing school in his hometown Morozov was accepted at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow. After his diploma he was engaged as leading baritone at the St. Petersburg Mariinsky Theatre. Two years later he was able to go to the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, where he sang all the major roles of the Italian and Russian compartment in the premiere cast: "Eugene Onegin ", Lionel ( Tchaikovsky's " The Maid of Orleans " ), Jeletzki ( Tchaikovsky's "Pique Dame " ), Robert and layer Haghia ( Tchaikovsky's " Iolanta " ), Figaro ( Gioachino Rossini's " The Barber of Seville" ), Andrei Bolkonsky ( Prokofiev's "War and Peace " ), Ferdinand ( Prokofiev's " betrothal in a Monastery " ), Germont ( Giuseppe Verdi's "La Traviata ), Silvio ( " Leoncavallo's " Pagliacci "). Morozov was a regular concert partner mezzo-soprano Elena Obraztsova.
Since his debut as Onegin at the Vienna State Opera in 1990 Morozov is a regular guest at the major opera houses of Western Europe and the USA: Teatro alla Scala, Vienna State Opera, Berlin State Opera Unter den Linden and German Opera, Hamburg State Opera, Munich State Opera, Cologne Opera, Salzburg Festival and the Bregenz Festival. Morozov sang in Amsterdam, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Palermo, Montpellier, Zurich, Basel, at the Houston Grand Opera and the Boston Festival.
Morozov took over in addition to the classic roles in the operas of Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini and Vincenzo Bellini roles in world premieres and works by Dmitri Shostakovich. So he sang the world premiere of Klaus Huber's opera " black earth " in Basel, the main role of Kovalyov in Shostakovich's " The Nose" in Basel, Shostakovich's 13th Symphony, " Babi Yar" by Jiri Kout in St. Gallen, " Michelangelo Suite" Concertgebouw Amsterdam.
Morozov was awarded in 1991 ( = People's Artist of USSR) by Boris Yeltsin, the highest title for artists in Russia, the " Narodni Artist Rossii ". He was honored by the International Academy of Arts and Sciences Golden Fortune with the Order of St. George 2002. 2007 started off with Woody Allen Igor Morozov's interpretation of Iago dream of Verdi's opera " Otello " for his Hollywood film " Match Point ".
Artistic concerns
