Igor Pugaci

Igor Pugaci (Cyrillic Игорь Пугач; born January 5, 1975 in Dubăsari ) is a former Moldovan cyclist.

Career

Igor Pugaci began his professional career in September 1998 as a stagiaire at the Italian Saeco team, having previously won the Giro della Valle d' Aosta, a high-quality driver stage race for the age group under 23, and finished second in the Italian one-day race Giro d' Oro. The following year, he signed a professional contract with Saeco and was in his first full season Moldavian champion in the road race and the time trial. The title in the time trial his defense in the two subsequent years. It was followed by two more years of Saeco and one season with the Italian teams also De Nardi (2004 ) and Universal Caffé Styloffice ( 2005). In the 2006 season when he drove for the Italian amateur team Partizan - Whistle, Pugaci won a stage at the International Presidency Turkey Tour and was third overall.

At the Giro d' Italia, he started twice in total and in 2002 40th overall. The Vuelta a España he took four times in attack and reached the second place on a very demanding stage to the Lagos de Covadonga in 2000, his most successful year overall, he could finish among the top 200 riders in the UCI World Ranking.

After his one-year stopover in the amateurs, he went in 2007 for the Continental Team Cinelli - OPD Endeka at the start and ended after the season finally his professional career.
