II. Marine Expeditionary Force

The II Marine Expeditionary Force (II MEF ) is a major unit of the U.S. Marine Corps as part of the Marine Air-Ground Task Force concept ( MAGTF ). This association is primarily composed of the 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing and the 2nd Marine Logistics Group of together. As an association to corps level, the II MEF is commanded by a Lieutenant General. Current commander is Lieutenant General Dennis J. Hejlík, who is also commander of U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Atlantic. The II MEF, the Marine infantry troops for the U.S. European Command, the U.S. Central Command and U.S. Southern Command.

Use groups after the MAGTF concept basically include four basic components: rod component ( Command Element), ground combat component ( Ground Combat Element), air combat component ( Aviation Combat Element) and a supply component ( Combat Service Support Element).

The three Marine Expeditionary Forces are the Fleet Marine Force, a used worldwide crisis response force, which operates out of the five with shipping from the U.S. Navy. The I MEF and III MEF in the Pacific and the II MEF are used in the Atlantic region.

The headquarters of the II MEF is the Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. Related units are:
