IIHF World Women's Challenge

The IIHF World Women 's Challenge was the official designation of an organized by the International Ice Hockey Federation IIHF Ice Hockey Women Tournament in 2002 for those teams that had not qualified for the Olympic Hockey Tournament 2002 or the previous qualifying round.

Although the tournament was open to teams from around the world and a replacement for the failing due to the Olympic Games World Championships of the newly formed divisions I and II, reported a total of only seven, all European teams for the tournament, the result of the previous World Championship 2001 took place in two divisions. The Division I played with four nations from 8 to February 10, 2002 just before the start of the Olympic Games in the Dutch city of Tilburg, while in Division II, only three teams - canceled at short notice here, Slovenia had the fourth team - in English in Kingston upon Hull connecting the Games of Salt Lake City ( 8 to 10 March 2002) met.

Renounced probably due to the low interest among national ice hockey organizations, the IIHF for the Olympic tournament in 2006 to the orientation of such competition.
