Iiro Järvi

Iiro Järvi Petteri ( born March 23, 1965 in Helsinki ) is a retired Finnish professional ice hockey player who played in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga for the Quebec Nordiques, among others, the National Hockey League and the Frankfurt Lions in its active from 1982 to 2000.

Career

Iiro Järvi began his career as a hockey player in his hometown when HIFK Helsinki for the first team, he was active from 1983 to 1988 in the SM- liiga. During the 1984/85 season, the attacker also completed 15 games for the league rivals Reipas Lahti. In the 1985/86 season he failed with the HIFK only in the playoff final of the Finnish championship. From 1988 to 1990 he played for the Quebec Nordiques in the National Hockey League, of which he had already been selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1983 in the third round as the 54th overall player. In parallel, he was in the 1989/90 season and for their farm team, the Halifax Citadel, in the American Hockey League on the ice. In these he also started the following season, switched after only five games in the 1990/91 season, however, the EC KAC, with whom he was Austrian champion.

From 1991 to 1996 Järvi was playing for his local club HIFK Helsinki in the Finnish SM- liiga, before joining for the 1996/97 season at the Frankfurt Lions of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga. In the following season the former NHL players occupied with his former club EC KAC second place in the Alps league. After each one more year in Finland in Lappeenranta Jokerit and the Newcastle Kings River in the Ice Hockey Super League of Olympian finished by 1988 at the age of 35 years of his career.

Internationally

For Finland Järvi took part in the Junior World Championships in 1983, 1984 and 1985 and the World Championships in 1987 and 1989. In addition, he was in the squad of Finland at the Olympic Winter Games in Calgary in 1988 and the Canada Cup in 1987 and 1991.
