IK Comet

IK Comet Halden is an ice hockey team from the Norwegian heaps to October 2009 in the highest Norwegian league, the GET ligaen played. Their home games are played at the Halden Ishall. The club colors are green, black and white.

History

The hockey department was established on 1 December 1961 in Halden and without its own ice rink - the team played from 1963 to 1988 in the Sparta AMFI - the club struggled in the shadow of the big clubs in their environment, such as the Sparta Warriors or Stjernen to emerge. Only with the construction of its own ice rink in 1988, the Halden Ishall, the boom came. At the beginning of the 1990s, the club made ​​the jump to the second- highest division and failed in 1995 just short of promotion to the top flight.

In 1997, severe financial problems forced the club to a new beginning in the third division. Thanks to the Swedish entrepreneur Siwert Hjalmarsson could build the club again and 2004 to celebrate the biggest success in club history. In the promotion round Hasle / Løren was defeated and thus secured promotion to the top flight. Thanks to many Swedish players, the team was able to establish itself here and had become an integral part of the GET ligaen.

In October 2009, the club withdrew from the league for financial reasons, the GET ligaen. For the 2010/11 season the game operation was continued under the name Ishockeyklubben Comet Halden after the club had the license to participate in the second highest league, the first Divisjon requested. As head coach of the Czech Jiří Jantovský was committed. The team finished the season 2010/11 with 56 points from 36 games in second place behind Tønsberg og Omegn Chamber of Commerce. The two teams met after the qualifying matches for the promotion to the GET ligaen each other again. However, the two first division Manglerud Star Ishockey and Stjernen prevailed and managed in the league, while IK Comet and Tønsberg og Omegn CCI also remained in their league.
