IK Sirius

IK Sirius is a Swedish sports club from the city of Uppsala.

The IK Sirius was founded in 1907 in the district Svartbäcken in Uppsala. In addition to sports, the club operated in the cultural field and included presentations, music and singing at.

In 1908, the sports field student Erna's IP was inaugurated, the first modern sports ground in Uppsala. Thus, an important condition for good training and games was created. Especially bandy and football developed into the beutentensten sports on offer. The Hockey section of the club took in the 1940s repeatedly participated in the then still in the Cup mode discharged Swedish Championship.

Today the club has three departments: one each for bandy, football and Innebandy.

IK Sirius bandy

IK Sirius bandy is the Bandyabteilung of the association. His heyday of the club in the 1960s, when you could be three times Swedish champion. One consequence of this was that the association between the first ( Bandyallsvenskan ) and second league ( Division 1 ) shuttled back and forth. Today ( 2006/ 2007) plays the club in the first Bandyliga.

IK Sirius football

IK Sirius Fotboll is the football section of the club. The club had their wedding in the 1960s and 70s, where they played several years in the top division, the Allsvenskan. In the 90 IK Sirius played eight seasons in the then Division 1 beginning of the 21st century, the club played successfully in Division 2 and later in the reintroduction of Division 1

In the 2006 season IK Sirius reached the second place in Division 1 Norra. You missed so although the direct promotion to the second Swedish football league, but one could, over the next qualifiers against the 14 Superettan Väsby United interspersed (1-1 at home, 1-0 in Upplands Väsby ).
