The nuclear power plant Ikata (Japanese伊 方 発 电 所, Ikata hatsudensho ) is a nuclear power plant in Japan. It is located on the peninsula Sadamisaki in place Ikata district Nishiuwa in Ehime Prefecture. The plant is part of Shikoku Denryoku. Three reactors are located on the premises. The first two have two circuits (2- loop) and were supplied by Mitsubishi. The third has three cycles and was built by Mitsubishi and Westinghouse. The design has already been tested in the nuclear power plant in Surry Surry County ( Virginia) with success.

On 30 November 2006, the Company reported Areva that it will produce MOX fuel for the third block in Ikata. A similar conversion has also given in the Genkai nuclear power plant.

Trivia

The power plant was a backdrop in the film Godzilla vs.. Mothra (1992, Toho Studios).
