Ikechukwu Uche

Ikechukwu Uche ( born January 5, 1984 in Aba ) is a Nigerian football player.

Career

Association

Ikechukwu Uche came in 2001 from the Nigerian National Iwuanyanwu club to the Spanish second division side Racing de Ferrol. He made his debut on January 19, 2003, compared Levante UD and had already one month later a regular place in the team. His first hit he succeeded on 23 February 2003 to Real Oviedo. As Ferrol relegation at the end of the season, he spent 300,000 euros to the second division Recreativo Huelva. He had from the beginning a regular place at his new club, scoring in the first two seasons a total of 22 goals in 74 missions. In the 2005/06 season he increased his quota and was clearly the end of the season with 20 goals in 28 games top scorer in the second division. In the top division of the country he came in his first season with eight goals in Huelva and five assists in 31 stakes and finished at the end of eighth place with Huelava in the championship. In the summer of 2009 he moved on to Real Zaragoza, which had risen in the Primera División straight. Also due to the injury, he could never really put in Zaragoza and came in two seasons just 18 league bets. For the 2011/12 season he undertook the League rival Villarreal for four years, however, has been immediately re-lent to the league rivals FC and newly promoted Granada.

National

Uche debuted under Berti Vogts in August 2007 against Macedonia in the Nigerian national team and was a few months later, the squad of Nigeria at the African Cup 2008 in Ghana. During the tournament, he came there to three operations, including in the 1-2 defeat in the quarter- final against hosts Ghana. In qualifying for the FIFA World Cup 2010 Uche was with four goals scored together with Victor Obinna best Nigerian scorer. For the World Cup finals, he was indeed called by coach Lars Lagerback in the 30 -man provisional squad, managed, partly due to his knee injury suffered at Zaragoza, the plunge in the 23 player overall World Cup squad but did not. Previously, he had already missed a possible participation in the African Nations Cup 2010 due to this injury.
