Ikeja

Ikeja is located the capital and one of the 20 Local Government Areas of Lagos State in Nigeria, 30 kilometers north of Lagos Iceland. Ikeja has 317 614 inhabitants ( 2006 census ). Those living on an area of ​​46.16 square kilometers. The population density is 6,881 inhabitants per square kilometer.

History

In the 15th century, was located near the city, a settlement of the people of the Yoruba. 1472 the territory of Portuguese merchants was discovered in 1861 and fell under British influence. Since 1960, Ikeja, is part of the independent state of Nigeria. 1975 sparked from Lagos as the capital of 1967 created the State of Lagos.
