Il bacio di Tosca is a documentary film by Swiss director Daniel Schmid from the year 1984. He portrays residents of the Casa di Riposo by Musicisti in Milan, a retirement home for opera singers and musicians, founded by Giuseppe Verdi.

Background

The Casa di Riposo by Musicisti, also called Casa Verdi, was donated by Giuseppe Verdi as a retirement home for opera singers and musicians. He financed the building completed in 1899 and decreed that would benefit the royalties for his works until the expiration of the term of the Casa Verdi after his death. The house was opened after Verdi's death on 10 October 1902. He and his wife are buried in the crypt of the building.

1984 filmed Daniel Schmid and his cameraman Renato Berta two months everyday life in the Casa Verdi and let the people talk about their lives. The film was a production of Marcel Hoehn and the Zurich company, T & C Film.

Criticism
