Ilan Pappé

Ilan Pappe ( in Hebrew: אילן פפה, Ilan Pappe or occasionally Ilan Papeh, born 1954 in Haifa) is an Israeli historian, author and professor at the University of Exeter.

He is a prominent advocate of the one-state solution.

Life

Pappe's parents were from Germany and fled in the 1930s before the Nazi terror from the German Reich. He served in the Israeli army during the 1973 Yom Kippur War on the Golan Heights. In 1978 he completed his studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. His PhD thesis was finished in 1984 at the University of Oxford under Albert Hourani and Roger Owen. From 1984 he was a professor of political science at the University of Haifa. Politically, cardboard engaged in the communist dominated Hadash Party, for which he stood as a candidate in elections to the 15th Knesset in 1999. Him a resignation was suggested in 2005 by the University because he actively campaigned for an international boycott against Israel. Book The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine
