The Ile d'Or (in German " golden island " ) is in the Mediterranean in Provence- Alpes -Cote d' Azur in the Var from the French Riviera, it belongs geographically to Saint- Raphaël and is clearly visible in front of the beach Le Dramont. The nearest town is Agay in the north ( 3 km ).

The island is about 190 meters long and about 75 to 90 meters wide, has rocky bottom and a distinctive tower in the center, which serves as a home. This tower was built in 1912 from locally blown up by dynamite island stones. Prior to this demolition, the island was uninhabited and had the name of a " black island ". In the east, a steep rock face is a landing bay, which is not climbable. In other places you can get anywhere on the island.

To the west of the island are during the day and at night many yachts at anchor.

With their head the Ile d'Or is returned to the beach. It is privately owned, so the landing on the island is unwanted by the owners. To achieve this is by boat or by swimming. Right on the seafront, just 450 meters away, is the large campsite Campeole le Dramont, of which the island is clearly visible.

On the beach of Le Dramont, right in front of the island, landed during the Second World War on 15 August 1944, the Allied troops (36th Division from Texas).

The rocky coast towards Agay is a popular destination for kayakers, divers and rock jumpers. The steep rocks around the mountain Dramont offer deep and well clear discontinuities.
