Ile du Port is an uninhabited island of the Kerguelen Archipelago in the southern Indian Ocean. Politically, it is part of the French overseas territory " Terres et australes antarctiques françaises ".
Geography
Ile du Port is located in the Baie du Hillsborough and is therefore in the north, west and south of Grande Terre, the large main island of the archipelago surrounded. Ile du Port has a length of nearly 13 km, a width of up to 10 km and has an area of 43 km ². Thus it is to Grande Terre, Foch, Howe and Saint -Lanne Gramont the fifth largest island in the archipelago. Highest peak of hilly island is the K 13 in the Southwest with 340 m, second highest in the Mont du signal with 293 meters above the sea. The island is like all the Kerguelen islands of volcanic origin.
