ÃŽle Vierge

Phare de l' Île Vierge is the name of a lighthouse on the island Vierge, which belongs to the municipality in the department of Finistère Plouguerneau. It is approximately 1.5 kilometers from the coast in Lilia Archipelago. Its scope is 27 nautical miles, which is roughly 52 kilometers.

The lighthouse is listed as a historic monument of France since 23 May 2011. It is open for visits by the public.

History

1842-1845 the first lighthouse on Île Vierge ( Virgin Island) was built with a height of 31 meters. His permanently installed, white light had a range of 14 nautical miles. The operation was maintained during the construction period of the current lighthouse. The fog horn is still in operation today. In addition to accommodation for the lighthouse keeper, completes a beacon the plant on the island.

Today's Lighthouse
