Ä°lhan Erdost

Ilhan Erdost ( born December 17, 1944 in Tokat, † November 7, 1980 in Ankara) was a Turkish journalist and publisher.

Erdost took after elementary school to work. After moving with his brother Muzaffer Erdost to Ankara, he found the opportunity to continue to attend school. After the military coup in 1960, he learned Marxism know. He began studying law at the University of Ankara. However, he abandoned his studies to work at the publishing house Yayınları Sol, which was founded by his brother. When his brother was arrested as a result of the military coup in 1971, Erdost took over the editorship of the publisher. After the military coup in 1980, he was arrested on 7 November 1980 along with his brother. The two brothers were doing badly abused, so İlhan Erdost 20 minutes after he had arrived in his cell, suffocated. After his death, his brother changed his name to Muzaffer İlhan Erdost. The soldiers who had killed İlhan were given prison sentences ranging from 8 - sentenced 10 years. The commanding sergeant Şükrü Bağ who had ordered his men to "make mother cry " İlhans, was founded in 1984 initially sentenced to a long prison term. After several judgment confirmations, cancellations and renegotiations he was finally convicted in 1987 because of " negligence in office," to six months in prison.
