Ilī-ippašra

ILI ippašra is a Kassite official who is known by two letters from Nippur. These letters are addressed to Illija, the governor of Nippur. ILI ippašra calls him brother, but this must mean there is no actual kinship, but also a common salutation was peer. The letters were probably sent from Dilmun and date under Burna - Burias II ( about 1360 BC to 1333 BC). One of them begins with the formula: Inzak and Meskilak, the gods of Dilmun like, protect your life. The letters are of particular importance because they demonstrate that Dilmun was at that time under Kassite rule. ILI ippašra was probably governor in Dilmun.
