The Ilie - Oană Stadium (Romanian Ilie Stadionul Oană ) is a football stadium in the Romanian city of Ploiesti. It can accommodate 15,097 spectators and serves the club Petrolul Ploiesti as homestead.

History

The Ilie - Oană Stadium in Ploiesti, a city with about 230,000 inhabitants in the south-east of Romania, was built in the years 2010 to 2011. 25 September 2011 was followed by the opening of the new arena with a top-flight of the future users association Petrolul Ploiesti against the capital club Dinamo Bucharest, which was won by the host team 5-1. Since September 2011, Ilie - Oană Stadium is thus now being used by the club Petrolul Ploiesti as a venue for home games in football. Petrolul Ploiesti was three times the Romanian football champions in its history to date, while the national cup competition could also be won three times. The last success in this tournament dates back to 2013 and has thus been partially achieved in the new stadium. Currently plays Petrolul Ploiesti in the top division in the Romanian football, the League 1

The Ilie - Oană Stadium replaced an eponymous, older stadium as the home of Petrolul Ploieşti. The old stadium was built in 1937 and provided room for 14,000 spectators last, but corresponded only to a very limited extent the requirements of a modern venue. So it was for example mostly of standing room, while the new arena has only about seats. The old Ilie - Oană Stadium was demolished in 2010 so that the new round could be built on the site.

The new Ilie - Oană Stadium has a capacity of 15,097 spectators and is like its predecessor named after Ilie Oană, a former player of Petrolul Ploiesti, who then managed the club even nine years as a coach and in this function for the successful phase was responsible in the club's history.
